MarJhon Metoyer – Overshadowed But Not Forgotten

With the recruiting class of 2016 in the books. The 2016-2017 High School Football season is now in effect. With many big names in this year’s recruiting class in the State of Michigan, there are some that have been over looked as juniors and that are still looking for that opportunity to showcase their talent. Colleges will be looking for athletes that may have gone unnoticed or not nearly as recruited like the big name athletes have been.

There is one student athlete that is currently experiencing this right now and that is (Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep) MarJhon Metoyer. A 6’2 230 pound senior Defensive end, who had a great season last year. Metoyer ending the season with 6 sacks and 20 tackles. Metoyer was Top 20 in sacks according to the Oakland County Press. And he is now ready to capitalize and gain more success on rushing Quarterback’s this upcoming season.

Many may not know who MarJhon Metoyer is, but he has already had a stellar career at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. With not only winning Two State Championships back to back in football, Metoyer has also won a State Championship in Track as well. But outside of sports Metoyer has goals that set himself apart from most High School students. Metoyer has goals set to become an accountant out of College. “Becoming an Accountant has always been my dream since I was a child, I want to be able to know how to support myself financially when my football career is over,” said Metoyer.

I asked Metoyer what we’re his goals for the 2016-2017 season, “My goals are to record at least 10 sacks and led my team to another State Championship, but to also become one of the leaders of the team next season,” said Metoyer.

Metoyer is looking to have another outstanding season, having receive interest from schools such as Holy Cross, Columbia University, and Harvard. This has added fuel for Metoyer to work harder on the field and especially in the classroom. “What motivates me in life and in football, I would have to say God and my family. God has truly blessed me to have a family like I do, they have supported me all my life and it is my turn to show them it has all paid off,” said Metoyer.

To prepare himself more for next season, Metoyer will be attending the National Nike Camp, Sound Mind Sound Body Camp, and the Rising Stars College Tour Camp which will include Colleges such as Notre Dame, Syracuse, Harvard, Virginia and many more Universities. These camps will help Metoyer receive more attention from Colleges and will also make him a better player on the field.
Metoyer is looking to shine this year and more so to prove to everyone that he should be in the conversation of the top players to watch next season. With the 2016 football season months away, we should all expect that Metoyer will deliver. You may not have heard much about MarJhon Metoyer until now but he will no longer be overshadowed.
